Suggested Materials:
Sharpened pencils, erasers, glue sticks, colored pencils, 3 ring binder with filler paper, slash pockets, page protectors, and dividers (no spirals please)
Text Books:
Students are provided with the following textbooks:
“Journey Across Time: The Early Ages”
Book should be covered by students and brought to class every day.
Class Participation:
All students will actively participate in Social Studies lessons. This will include careful listening and answering questions with the whole class and also working cooperatively in small groups. This is a graded activity.
Note taking:
Students will be expected to take notes during class. Notebooks will be checked periodically. You will receive a mark for your organization and content.
Homework:
Homework is assigned on a daily basis and is due the next day. It may be turned in one day late for a reduced grade. Any homework not turned in will receive a zero. If you are absent, you have two extra days to complete homework assignments. It is your responsibility to copy your homework assignments into your school planner. Homework is posted in my classroom and online on Edline. A printed homework grid is also available daily in the Green Team hallway.
Quizzes and Tests:
Quizzes will be given at the end of each section and after each reading assignments as a reading check. Tests will be given at the end of each chapter and unit. There will also be several projects assigned throughout the year. At least one major project a Quarter.
Course Grades:
Tests/Projects 30%, Quizzes 30%, Homework 10%, Participation/Behavior 30%,
Absenteeism:
All assignments must be made up if you are absent for ANY reason. You will have two extra days to turn these assignments in to me. If you need additional time, please see me.
Extra help:
I am available for extra help every day after school until 3pm. Please utilize the extra help that is available to you. If your grade is dropping, if you are falling behind, or if you need help in any way please see me!!!
Edline: Be sure to get an Edline account as grades are posted and updated every 2 weeks.
